College students are living in dangerous times especially when it comes to crime against women and here are a few facts:
Every 2 minutes someone in the U.S. is sexually assaulted.
College age women are 4 times more likely to be victims.
1 of 6 American women will be assaulted in their lifetime.
Approximately 75% of rape victims know their attacker.
Only 6% of rapist actually spend time in jail.
It’s always important to be aware of your surroundings and who might be stalking you because a sexual predator is looking for an easy prey. A woman talking on the phone, texting or searching through her purse as she walks makes an ideal target for an attacker to victimize. He can launch a surprise attack on his victim and quickly overpower you. Women exercising in public parks or jogging on side streets with headphones also are an inviting target to be raped or abducted. Also, the number one place women are abducted or attacked is the grocery store parking lot followed by office parking lots/garages and public restrooms. Most sexual predators are looking to quickly grab their victim and take her to a second location where he doesn’t have to worry about being caught. That’s why under no circumstances allow an abductor take you to another location. Again, Never, Never, Never allow him to put you in his car or yours. Fight, scream or just pretend to faint but your chances of survival are much greater if you stay at the site of attack. College students must take responsibility for their own personal safety and remember it takes just seconds for an assailant to overwhelm you when he attacks. Unfortunately, law enforcement usually gets involved after the crime. So, the only one you can count on to rescue you during an attack is YOU! Students, I know money can be tight but a $10 Wildfire key chain 18% pepper spray can save your life.
Crime Is Real, Don’t Be a Victim!
